I have an old 1996 Mariner Magnum III 150, 2.5 liter on my boat. Some mods have been done to air intake and exhaust, carb work, etc. All fuel lines replaced to accomodate Ethanol blend fuel. She is a hot girl. This all said, I have had to replace a relay for the tilt/trim, shucked a lower unit or two, wrecked a couple props, but this old girl is still strong. Compression is good, the block has never been opened for repair. I am good about preventative maintenence. Water pump most every year, new plugs and fuel filter every year, keep it lubed. But she gets used hard year after year. She does like to drink gasoline, but much cheaper even now to keep her running than to repower. And she sounds sexy, you muscle car guys can appreciate. I love this old Girl and she has been good to me. They do not make them like they used to for sure.
