Should I be concerned.

Bought an Otter Lodge hiv a few weeks ago and just set it up for the first time today on my patio. Just looking it over and I noticed one of the zippers. It seems to work fine opening and closing it carefully. I hate the hassle of returning stuff and not sure I even have grounds. Is this normal on these zippers?

Yes I would be concerned and I would take it back or contact otter you know in a deep freeze out on the lake when you’re trying to rush in or out of your Shack something will happen

I agree … zippers are always the weak point and rarely do they “get better” on their own. It will likely worsen as you use it and by the time if fails it might be out of warranty. Better to take care of it now.

If it’s a hub then zipper issues are somewhat common. I sent mine back under warranty and they replaced the zippers and sent it back. The new ones are heavy duty plastic that actually work well.

That is absolutely NOT normal for any zipper. I can’t even comprehend how that is even happening.

Did you open and close it a few times to see if it does the same thing in the same places?

Same spot every time I ran the zipper up and down. Almost looks like the teeth are “bent”. Yeah, I was surprised to see this as this was right out of the box. Has never seen the ice. Surprised it left the factory like this. I did just send customer support an email. See what they say later in the week.

This is exactly the kind of purchase I would put on my credit card-your credit card company will help you if a return is disputed-this is not a all ti imply anything bad about the company that makes Otter, their costumer service may be awesome.

All that does is hurt the retailer. Unfortunately since you authorized the purchase, I don’t think there’s anything a CC company can do. Unless you lie to them.

However, I have used this tactic over billing disputes for other services like internet, cable/satellite tv.
