Does anyone know a shop or person in the metro area that will shorten a Maxxum bow mount trolling motor shaft? I ordered one with the shortest shaft possible and it is still 6-8 inches too long. Thanks in advance.

    P.S. fishing has been good.

What, why would you shorten a bow mount shaft?

    Mine is 60″ and I wouldn’t mind 70″

Skeeter boat center did one for me a few years ago.

You can do it without removing it from the motor end if you are very careful with the saw.

Jack at Action’s Electronics in Anoka will do it. He’s great to work with.

I’ve done a few! Remove the head unit. Then use a pipe cutter to cut the shaft to your desired length.

I did mine to make it short enough to put on the back of the boat. Its really not hard at all, just disconnect the in my unit 2 wires and then cut the pipe, then just reconnect the wires and its done, not hard at all.
