Shorelander brake calipers

I have a 2008 Lund with a duel axle Shorelander trailer. Took a 1200 mile trip to Maine recently. I was 250 miles from my destination at 4 in the morning. A deluge of rain came out of no where and my truck suddenly lost power. I thought my tires were slipping. Needing gas, I pulled off the highway. As I pulled into the gas station, I heard a God-awful noise coming from the trailer. Checked the wheel bearing temps and they were fine and I didn’t see any obvious problems. Fueled up and went to leave, the noise returned and one trailer tire was locked up. I pulled into a parking lot next to the station and looked under the trailer. Found the brake line broken and the brake caliper wedged in the rim. The bolts had come loose and backed out. The caliper fell on the ground when I removed the tire which actually made it an easy fix. I just wouldn”t have any brakes for the rest of my trip to Maine. When I reached my destination, I replaced the brake line. The caliper was amazingly ok to use. The bolts on the opposite rim were also loose. I never to expected to need to check the caliper bolts for tightness!

I’ve had it happen twice on an easy loader trailer… Just one of the two bolts on the calipers backed out and spun against the rim of the trailer each time. Ruined both rims. One was going down the interstate, and the other was actually backing up in my driveway. Now these bolts have red loctite and a lock washer on them and checked twice a year. No problem since. Definitely not fun

Happened to my 2008 Shorelander Trailer also, they must have ran out of lock tight that year.
