Hey guys, I need some help in the Southern part of Minnesota. So I have been fishing in Ramsey county and county’s near there but can’t seem to find any good lakes or ponds. If you have any insight on where to fish that would be awesome! Thanks.
The DNR has something called Fishing in the Neighborhood that caters to shore fishing around the metro. Check out the link below and there are lakes listed by county in the lower left. Here’s a PDF of water bodies with types of fish present and park amenities.
Rivers, Rivers, Rivers….Before I bought my boat the Mississippi and St Croix rivers provided some of the best shore fishing in the area. Heck I still shore fish them.
You can’t take the shore from a fisherman! I too find myself hunting for hidden shore spots to pitch for some early spring eyes on the sippi when I have a boat just begging to be taken out. This year was tough with flooded roads but even after spring, the rivers offer some fantastic opportunities. Look for some ponds small enough to be un noticed too. Few summers ago, I had a strong sense that a sand pit near my place could hold BIG crappies…..it paid off with multiple 15″ plus but winter killed the next year. It is in recovery mode and in a few years, I will hopefully hook into a few more?
