Anybody here own a trailer at Sherwood Forest on Mille Lacs? If so whats your opinion of the place? Does Myr Mar have dock spaces a person can rent yearly?

Looking for opinions or experiences of the place.

    Thanks.

Dutchboy, Sorry I didn’t see your post here until now. Although I do not own there, Sherwood Forest is right across 169 from where my place is. From what I have heard it is perhaps one of the nicest trailer parks in the area. Not right on top of each other but spread out. Obviously nicely wooded. Private and exclusive though! It’s gated. Nice swimming pool and clubhouse.
They (the owners) used to have a huge presence at Phil’s (Myr Mar) bar and would pack the place. Last few years though things have quieted down, perhaps because of the Mille Lacs walleye issues and/or Phil’s demeanor? Probably both.
And yes, Myr Mar does have seasonal slips that at one time there was a waiting list for, now…you can take your pick. I keep my boat there a few days at a time when I am there.

We just moved to Barnacles last Fall. So far, love the place. They are added some additional camper/rv spots that will be ready in the spring. They have a harbor with seasonal slip rental. Great value. Good bar/restaurant too.

    Thanks guys.

Are Barnacles spots across the road? Andy I thought of looking into one of the condo’s at Myr Mar. There always seems to be one for sale.

I think there may be one currently for sale in building 2.
Perhaps the best decision I made regarding such things. Fraction of the cost of a stand alone cabin and fraction of the work involved better yet! Grass is always cut every time I get there!
Relative to campground, price we be perhaps similar to a nice Park model at campground. Better though it’s year ’round. A/C for hot summer days, heat in the winter, water’s always on and they all have w/b fireplaces. yay
Walk through the door, drop your bags and…pour yourself your favorite beverage!

Andy is there docks on the property or do you need to go to the marina?

Barnacles gets rowdy on summer nights. Some people are into that but if your not I would look elsewhere. Fireworks, hooting and hollering, music so loud you would think your at a rock concert and the occasional 4 wheeler driving around at 2 in the morning. During the fall and winter it is really quiet. Plus side of barnacles is the new sites, cheap (I think they are the cheapest on the lake), and they are farely close to the mud flats. Spring fishing is really good out front and down to red door. The owner is nice. So in the end I guess the only drawback to barnacles is rowdiness. One thing to pay attention to is when the resort turns water off and back on. If you are going to use it in october some resorts have already shut it off. Barnacles goes to about the last week in october but docs harbor shuts it off in september I think.

Sorry…again your follow up post/question, I seem to keep missing on this thread until days later. Perhaps if you have any more questions, just PM me.
To answer this question though, yes there is a shared dock on the property which is fine. You could tie your boat up there temporarily but would not want to leave it. If the wind picks up which can happen sometimes within minutes, it will be rocking out there and it would be bad. Along that lake if your boat is not in a protected marina or harbor, the boats would have to be up on a lift.

I have a brother and sister in law that has a place there. Kinda like the way it’s spread out but if I hadn’t had my nuivi with I’d still be trying to find my way out. That was 2 summers ago. Don’t know about dock thing. I didn’t particularly care for the way it’s set up for waste water. They have 300 gallon holding tanks when full you need to pay to empty. Think it’s 35 bucks. You buy your lot and 2 summers ago I think it was $950 a season but don’t quote me on it.
