Finally had a good weekend of fishing. Saturday morning we fished high and low for fish. Mid morning the wind picked up so we figured the fish might go shallow. I faught the wind for a while and then the wife called. She and my son wanted to come join us while lunch was cooking on the grill, but they did not want to partake in the walleye chop! Ok I guess we will just fish in calm water for a while until the food is done.
We pulled up in some willows right next to some friends. Dead still water, two casts with (pink) 1/8 oz jig and crawler and bam the bite was on. we managed 6 keepers before it was time to go eat. After lunch we picked up a couple more anglers and went back out. Our friends pulled their limit, left and someone else pulled into our spot. So we moved across the bay to yet another group of willows in calm water and in no time had 6 more in the box. That finished our limit for the day. The fished ranged from 19.9″ to 17.5″ and they were healthy as I have ever seen them from Sherman.
Sunday went out with no wind to speak of and tried another spot and had another limit of 6 slot fish.
I might as well add the fact that my wife picked out every spot that we caught fish. after the first spot I just said where to now honey. The one who usually reads her cosmo magazine while I fish. Actually must have some kind of built in fish finder I did not know about. Damn now if I want to catch fish I have to wait till she is up, has her hair done, make-up on etc. before I will be able to find the fish.

18 keepers in one weekend, 12 dozen crawlers gone, 2 dozen jigs gone, sunburn, one hell of a fish fry, having the family along to share the moment…PRICELESS !!!!!

Nice job. My prior report from Memorial day was doing the exact same thing. That is my favorite way to catch them, but I prefer 1/16 ounce when possible (depending on wind). I like it when I see all the boats out in open water and I am hammering them 2 feet from the bank. Reminds me of fishing for bass growing up. Good times.

Did you catch them on the new hair jigs? Sounds like you had a good time!

No just regular 1/8 jigs. BTW I NEED MORE !!! I seemed to have planted most of mine in the willows. Whenever you are coming this way let me know.

Had another good afternoon of fishing on Saturday. Tried another fresh group of willows and found some hungry eye’s. Had to throw back a 22″ and we lost a few in the willows. Ended up with 6 in the freezer.
