Spent the past weekend at Sherman and it definitely could be called slow. The light winds, heat, humidity and coming off of the full moon added up to be a real downer. The lake has to be at all time highs for this time of year and the shad hatch was a good one. The shad are beginning to ball up and there is a little early morning and late evening action. The whites don’t stay up long so you have to be right on them to get any surface action. And it doesn’t help that the resident population of 14 seagulls are too full of shad to fly.
We put in plenty of time on the 9.9 Mercury but to little avail, one small pike and a short walleye. But as Jimmy V said, “Don’t give up, don’t ever give up.” I’ll be back to the cabin soon.
A shout out to Shermanator ……………….. Nice to meet up finally. Good luck with that pack of kids. Keep them interested in fishing and they will all turn out to be liars ……………. I mean good kids.
