Was up to the farm on the 3/5 chomping at the bit to look for sheds. When I arrived at our property my hope dwindled. Snow cover on the ground was going to be a problem. I thought it would be a good opportunity to check the camera and do a little scouting as long as I had made the trip. Headed out to the Cameras early Saturday morning. Had not been up to check on the cameras since early Dec. I figured the batteries would be dead, low and behold I was wrong. Took one camera down to relocate. I returned to the camper to charge up the batteries. While the batteries were charging i reviewed pictures. WOW I had two dandies on the camera after the gun seasons had closed. Can’t wait till this fall to see what kind of head gear these guys will have. Once the batteries were charged I headed out to hang the camera in a new location, perfect time to head through the little lake swamp and look for sheds. I entered the swamp scanning the ground( SNOW) I noticed this large black furry blob, did a double take and realized it was a bear that decided to curl up under a small downed tree. This bear didn’t spend alot of time looking for his den. I slid around on the down wind side and slid in for a closer look, at about 20 feet the bear must have heard me in the crunchy snow. He lifted his head sluggishly and peered my direction. I froze not know what he was going to do, after a few minutes he was content and curled back up in to a ball to wait out the rest of the winter. All I had was my phone camera. If you look closely you can see his brown muzzle and his ears sticking up in the one picture. I might head up there again next weekend, might have to sneak in and see if he’s still sleeping away the winter in the little lake swamp.
