I went to a south facing cedar thicket today that was absolutely covered with deer poop. It was about 3 acres in area and I spent 2.5 hours gridding it. NOTHING. I was completely depressed about my lack of luck. So I left empty-handed to head home. I decided to follow a fence on the way back to get a jump on fixing them in a month. The area I went through isn’t a typical winter deer area, so my expectations were very low for finding a shed. Half way down the hill I had to do a triple take at what was in front of me. In amongst a tore up turkey scratching area was this beauty. Very young buck with extreme tine length for our area.
Isn’t it ironic that you can walk for hours in a deer infested area, then hit gold in a barren area!
