I like to check out known travel corridors between food and bedding areas first. I have found a few around low spots in a fence they cross and knock off their antlers. Or, you could just get a dog like the one in the Outdoor News! Pretty cool!

don’t feel bad… i’ve never found one either. I’ve found more dead deer then anything while looking for sheds and 3 have been buck, nothing nice though. Keep looking and eventually you will find one. at least i hope that’s what happens. good luck

today i searched along ridge lines and creek bottoms walked through knee deep snow for about 4 hours. will be going out thursday again, hopefully it keeps thawing and will be able to move around better. my legs are killing me tonight though, it was fun none the less

Obviously the area is the most important part of it. I found my first this year and i’ve been out two times since. I’m fairly confident i will find another only because of the areas I have permission to search now. Keep at it, ya gotta find one sometime.

I always start with the boundary between field/pasture and woods. And always be looking for deer poop. The more poop you find in an area equals a better chance of finding sheds in my book.

If you do find an area with a lot of deer sign, break it up like a grid and cover it completely.

And don’t forget your lucky rabbit foot, because as good as anyone can be at finding sheds, it always helps to have luck on your side.

Fish, I never rule an area out as long as it has deer sign. I’ve been in area’s where I was sure I’d find more than one and came out empty handed. Also have found them in areas that looks like a deer had never been. Good luck!
