First find of the season

Sunday after snowshoeing over 200+ yrds of 3′-4.5′ snowdrifts to check my camera I spent 4.5 hours searching mostly tamarack swamp and cattails that at times were a foot over my head only to find this antler laying under a small group of cedar trees in a crp field that they have pretty much chewed down to nothing laying on about the only open ground I’d seen all day. It’s a 4pt with decent tine length except for the small brow. Also, this is by far the darkest shed I’ve ever found and is not the match to the one I refered to in my post, Shed right out from under me. So, with alot of luck I know there are 2 more needles in the haystack to look for,

That is a dark-un, very nice shed! Nice pictures too, I get excited and forget to do that before I pick em up.
Good luck on your next find!!

    Nice find indeed Copper.

My budddy from ND is coming down and bringing all the ones he has found so far this year (quite a few 10 or so). Looking forward to seeing what is out there.

Nice find! Do you think you have any trail cam pics of him from last season?

Thanks Guys, This was only my 3rd time out and a total of roughly 11-12 hours. I’m typically happy if I find one or two a year as there’s alot of area for those deer to roam in the swamp. I’m going to check my cam pics to see but it’s possible I could have got a pic of him late Dec as I had a couple pics of buck roughly his size but I remeber being bummed that both were at bad angles and may make it tough to tell.

Rob, If you get a chance to take a few pics of the sheds from ND it would be great to see those. Man, that’s alot of sheds and this early already!

He is wintering a few hundred (100-200) around his place this year, thus the many sheds. I will get pics and post on Monday!

Good luck to everyone looking this weekend.
