Sharing SI at the bow?

Not sure I would ever do this anyways, but I have a network set up with a hub. I have 2 Ethernet cables going to the console in my tiller boat and 1 to my bow. My Ulterra and 2 Helix G2Ns SI units are all networked.

Sharing the SI from #1 Helix to #2 Helix at the console is awesome over 2 15′ Ethernet cables. Everything just works, if you start them in the right order.

I tried my #2 helix at the bow, to make sure my Ulterra DI & 2D worked. It worked great, but my SI shared from my #1 helix at the console keeps dropping when #2 unit is at the bow. I don’t seem to have any issue controlling the Ulterra from either unit at the console. This is actually my favorite feature! So handy to not have to look for my controller when I hit a spot.

I am thinking that my 30′ Ethernet cable is bad.

    Anybody experience this?

I run the exact same setup and haven’t had any issues. I would check all your connections first, and then try and rule out a bad ethernet or dongle. I would sure think it’s some kind of connectivity issue if it works on and off.

Oh that’s a good call, I didn’t check the dongle.. I’ll check that connection. I am impressed at how smooth everything installed and hooked up!

You might want to make sure your dongle isn’t exposed. Sorry I couldn’t resist.
