Shallow lake bluegill

    Hi everyone,

I am traveling to visit some friends and they plan to go ice fishing on a lake I have never fished before. They said that it is really shallow, 9 ft deep at its deepest point, and very weedy. They said that they get a lot of pike action on tip ups but I am also interested in targeting some of the blue gills that they say are in there.

What types of lures work well in shallow murky water for blue gills? Or what areas of the lake should I target? Just looking for some friendly advice to try and track down these bluegills!

I fish a couple lakes similar to this around town. Bright jigs like pink and orange seem to do well. May need to size down if they are finicky.

I I use the smallest chandelier jig made in a UV color and gob it with Euro larvae and waxes for the buffet
The lake i fish is about the same as your description. That has 9″ to 10″ sunfish and 10″to14″ crappies
    Thats what works for me

I love small horizontal jigs and plastics in shallow weedy water.

    Good luck!
