On sale right now on eBay direct from Sports Authority. I ordered one yesterday – $47.99 and free SH for a medium action spinning rod:

    Good deal!
I’ve been using a Tiger Lite heavy 1 pc spinning rod for a while, love it! My new “lucky”pole…

I have one Tiger Lite heavy 1pc that I put in the rotation last year and it was definitely my lucky pole – I want to say every cat over 30 pounds came in on that pole. If not, it was close. I like it a lot but would like a bit more backbone, so maybe I’ll order the Tiger instead of the Tiger Lite this year. The part that concerns me on the Lite is that the guides seem flimsy, but it definitely held up to some very solid fights this past season.

Honestly, though, for the money I haven’t found anything better than this. You can buy three of them for the price of one Tiger. I finally had one succumb to years of abuse and weathering and bust in half on me this last season, but it’s more as a result of neglect (keeping them outside every winter) than the rod’s deficiency. It’s also lighter in weight than the E-glass options because it’s graphite composite.

I think the Lite model will have more backbone to it. That’s if it follows suit to the Ugly Stik and Ugly Stik Lite model.

Our group uses almost all Tiger rods. Most are the medium light which I prefer over the mediums. Same backbone but slightly softer tip.

As far as spinning rods go, I can’t think of a better rod than the these Tigers. Great backbone to horse these fish around and super soft tips to detect the lightest bites.

I haven’t used the lite model to say what for sure what would be better, but I would assume the regular Tigers maybe be better suited for sturgeon and the lite model ideal for channel cats.
