Setting salmon and trout gear in the dark

I’ve had this light all summer trying to figure out how to mount it to the boat. I didn’t really want to run more wires and make more holes, and it finally clicked in my head. This will be great next year for setting gear and lighting flashers and spoons.

I was thinking the same thing. I’ve had a couple good ideas through the years that ends up on the market!

Do a decent amount of salmon fishing, but I would not want a bright light at the front of the boat shining straight back.

    1. Can’t see squat looking forward
    2. Your shadows will be horrible at the back of the boat.
3 would rather light up the back end where the action is.

Not trying to burst your bubble.

Yeah , this would only be used for setting gear in the dark and then turned off. I’m not looking forward when setting gear, this is to light up the back of the boat

A light higher up looking down would work much better. That one will exaggerate night blindness. I gave up on my boat light and now run headlamps.

Well if it doesn’t work I’m only out twenty bucks. I would have liked it higher up but that wasn’t feasible.

Awesome idea. Just have to add another to the stern light for netting fish. Could also make the light swivel so it could shine 360*. You definitely want the light solid and able to lock or the wave action will be a major issue imo.

Outboard manufacturers should probably start throwing on some hi intensity, recessed lights that shine to the sides and rear of the motor with the flip of a switch. You should rig up a few more sets of lights and report back.
