Feider said. “The guys whine, ‘Oh, there’s no walleye.’ But they’ve never let one go in their entire life. They kept every single one and whine. Well, you ate them all.”

I guess Ive been up fishing Mille Lacs for plus or minus 10 years.. and Ive yet to hear any “walleye guys” complain that there “is no walleyes”.

They complain that there are too many walleyes, 100 fish days, and too big of walleyes, and the BASS guys “whine” that they cant keep them off their tubes and jigs.
Walleyes guys I know complain that there are tons of walleyes and yet despite the economic cash flow they bring to area to chase the walleyes are constantly forced to C&R or a slot fish that is impossible to find, or that they dont want to dirty their knives for 1 fish limit in 3 days of fishing.

The comment was obviously a stupid thing to say. Throwing another log on the fire at his “home” lake. doah

Bass are delicious. The 1-2#ers are like bluegills, with more meat.

I don’t find walleye remarkable at all. In fact, I prefer pike over walleye.

No no no. Eat the bass.
    yay yay yay

It is sad to see Seth make such uninformed comments because people will listen to him. Can anyone add to the comment section under the article?

Just a question. How long has the DNR had the harvest quota for walleye? Like the limit being set at #50,000 for the year or whatever the number is?

Pike and Perch are hands down the best. Unfortunately 98% of the population won’t even consider cleaning a 25-30″ pike which are plentiful in all regions of the state.

I will admit to fishing with guys who eat small 14-15″ bass through the ice in early season (November-December). If you are deep frying small fish from the cold winter water, you couldn’t separate it out correctly by taste from any other fish.

Seth Feider is not a fisheries biologist.

I believe that came about in 1999 or more recently as a part of co-management. Here is the historical harvests:

Also, I don’t agree with Seth’s opinion on this whatsoever, but still want him to do well and succeed on the BASS circuit. It doesn’t have to be so polarizing just because it’s the internet, I’m guessing most of you disagree with friends/family on a number of issues, that doesn’t mean you disown them or treat them worse.
