It has been 14 years since the terror attack at the world trade center. I have been going into burning buildings for a living for over 22 years and understand what my new York city brothers were thinking. They were going in those two buildings to get the people out and extinguish the fire….no matter what. If you could give them a pause today and remember all who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We still have 911 firemen dying from cancer due to working the towers. Tragic. Still fresh in my memory. Think about that day often. Thank you and all fire fighters and police for your service.

It’s too bad so many have forgotten the atrocious act done that day.

Thank you to all who serve as police, firefighters, and other rescue workers.

    puddlepounder,
You, DT,Mike Watson, and so many more members on here that serve our communities, states, & country – Please know that we appreciate and respect what you do. Often we have a perception of how we (as individuals) will react in a given situation. I am grateful to know there are people like you that are going to make the right reaction “no matter what” bow bow bow

Amongst those that did not survive was a small group of data techs that I had worked with the week prior in Ohio. Awesome group that I had been working with on a national roll-out project with phenomenal work ethics. They left behind wives, husbands, and children. It’s exponential on how these attacks affected so many.
Will not be forgotten by me. We observe a moment of silence each year in remembrance of all lost, injured, and affected by losing someone in this. Additionally, this was a declaration of war by terrorist on the United States of America. We have had so many men and women in our military serves us, and give the ultimate sacrifice. Please remember them also today.

As for the radical islamic monkeybutts that continue to promote terrorism, you can kiss our American Ass and rot in hell.

Puddlepounder, thank you for dedicating your working life to doing what you do. When it comes to sirens, fire, bullets, and explosions there are very few people with the right fortitude in their heart and soul to defy logic and run toward the danger, and so many people are grateful for what you do.

Great post, thank you for bringing this day of memorial up. And to those that tried and continue to try and bring America down:
    We’re still going strong m#!@%$@!%$#rs!

I thought about all the people who died and those that live with the scars on the way to work today.

I remember every minute of that terrible day. We were in Yellowstone NP on 9/11/01 and we left the park that morning on our way home. Just before we left, I took a picture of the sunrise over Lake Yellowstone and in one of the most eerie coincidences ever, that picture is time stamped with the exact minute the first plane hit the World Trade Center.

We drove all the way across Wyoming with no clue what was happening as we did not have the radio on due to the lack of stations out there. We pulled into Gilette to fill up with gas and as soon as we hit the bottom of the exit ramp, I saw that something was terribly, terribly wrong. At 3:00 in the afternoon, there were 50 cars lined up for gas at each station and every person in sight wore a look of shock and disbelief. Nobody needed to tell me that something terrible had happened, I just needed to find out what it was.

We spent the night in Rapid City and we weren’t the only ones who felt the need to come out and drink. We sat a in a bar and at intervals people would rise and shout out toasts and prayers for the dead and the living.

The friends we had with us were from the UK and we had no idea of what would be happening with all the flights in the entire USA cancelled for an un-known time. I was worried for them as no one knew then if this was part of some Muslim holy war whereby all airplanes were to be targeted by massive numbers of suicide bombers, and so forth.

The second eeriest day of my life was taking our friends to the airport 3 days later. They were on the first international flight that left MSP. The airport was so empty that it was absolutely creepy and I had the most horrible feeling in letting them get onto an airplane. Those were some dark, dark days and I hope their the likes we never see again.

To everyone who’s job it is to run toward what everyone else is running away from, I thank you.

To all those who have decided to go down fighting in the middle of a terrorist attack, I salute you.

If you have twitter check out @AriFleischer the press secretary account of the day with the president. You might be able to Google the tweets too.

Very intriguing account of the day by a man that was next to president Bush for everything. More proof why dunb-azzes like Mike Moore need to keep their freak’n mouths closed and LISTEN to what is going on around them.

Throughout all that was endured on 9/11, I don’t think most can comprehend how easily this could have spun out of control and been much worse.

    1. When Doomsday is in the air, the potential of MASS DESTRUCTION on a scale that almost can’t be measured is real.
    2. What if – Putin didn’t have his military stand down when we went to DEFON 3? AND if there were any indications that the Soviet Union had been involved – regardless of true or false…
    3. Had we “re-acted” with an immediate response on a country that is shielded by Russia….I think the earth would no longer be inhabited.

Regardless if you liked Bush or not, I don’t think there are but a very limited few people that that could remain calm, accept direction, lead a country, and make the decisions he had to make. We can all BS about it, but deep down, could you give the order to shoot down a commercial plane filled with civilians? Tough spot to be in.

    Randy,
thanks for reminding me that there were alot of civilians killed on that day also. Not that I forgot about them in any way, my mind was focused on the firemen for obvious reasons. My original post should have read, “pause to remember ALL of the people that lost their lives that day”

I thought you did include ALL
and remember all who made the ultimate sacrifice. In the end, too dam many innocent people – Fire, Police, Volunteers, and First Responders,. and civilians lost their lives. I didn’t mean to push this post in another direction at all.

14 years later and I see a president (YES LOWER CAPS) that was trying to rail a nuke deal with countries that harbor/support terrorsits. Makes my blood boil.

Another thought for parents out there. We are coming into an election year. We have how many new thousands of voters that were 6,7, or 8 years old when this happened and only God knows how skewd their knowledge is from the slanted media out there. PLEASE, take the time to educate your kids that will be first time voters. We need a leader that will CORRECT this country – not “change it”
