Any clothes that cover your skin work fine. Wear what’s comfortable.
Under Armour and Columbia make a lot of fishing specific clothing for hot weather. Gander in Woodbury has an enormous selection of both right now. I prefer cotton for summer protection. I dont like sweating under high tech fabric. I would rather wear something absorbent on my torso.
I also like my fishing hat with side and rear panels for long sunny days on the water.nhammInactiveRobbinsdalePosts: 7348July 27, 2015 at 7:43 pm #1556645Got the baseball cap, buff, then sunglasses. Covers the neck face area.
Any cheap white LIGHT dress shirt will do. I had one laying around in closet and said why not, its now my go to for hot days and didn’t cost a thing. Is it hot, yes, but so is just sunblock and T-shirt.
Still wear shorts and just lotion up the thighs, why cover up such sexy legs?

Its still a good idea to use sun screen on exposed hide though. Bullfrog makes a great product that stands up to perspiration fairly well. I use it in the 50 rating and nobody burns as easy as I do.

Some of the larger dept stores have golf shirts that are made of the same materials for a fraction of the cost.If you don’t mind looking like a goofy golfer they work great.
My wife developed skin cancer a few years ago and it is not a good thing at all.Protect yourself.August 3, 2015 at 12:53 pm #1557654Any clothes that cover your skin work fine. Wear what’s comfortable.

I also like my fishing hat with side and rear panels for long sunny days on the water.Totally agree re the high tech fabrics. I sweat like crazy in all those quick drying fishing shirts I have tried. They don’t breathe, they’re all like wearing a trash bag.
My best shirt for fishing and sun protection is a Filson feather cloth shirt. It’s very light breathable cotton and it’s tremendous in the heat. It’s like wearing a t-shirt, only it offers full-arm protection and breathes! I’m not worried about how quick drying it is, my focus in fishing has always been to remain in the boat or in the full upright position while wading.
Also, Stuart makes a good point: This is serious business now and you have to go with what works regardless of the fashion statement you’re making. Yes, I realize I look like a total dork in my boonie hat and cowboy hat, but most of us (probably all of us, in fact) NEED the extra sun protection of a fully brimmed hat.

August 3, 2015 at 4:07 pm #1557704Being a fair-skinned redhead, I feel like I’m always hiding from the sun! I use long sleeved shirts of any fabric, hats, sunglasses, and handkerchiefs to cover my neck. I load up on the sunscreen, too. I absolutely look like a dork, but I’m comfortable knowing I’m protecting my skin. Any protection is better than no protection, and I think it’s important to wear whatever you find comfortable so you actually wear it, and fits within your budget. Don’t forget the importance of sunglasses. Your eyes need protection as much as your skin. My fishing attire may not turn heads when I’m out in the boat, but the fish I catch sure do!

Take up catten, no sunblock needed.Aww thanks, BK! I think you’re just trying to butter me up though so that I take up catfishing! People already worry about my liking for Spam and Hamm’s beer… just sayin’.
