I see from time to time in the classifieds section here that guys will be selling used chips that they no longer need, or maybe they sell their whole plotter/sonar and include the chip in the deal. Are these cards stuck as they are at that time, or can I register the card to my account and renew the subscription yearly to maintain access to chart updates, Sonart Chart Live, etc?
I’ve never had a unit with a chip before and I’m kind of surprised at the cost, just trying to cut a corner if I can. I’m used to paying $10/year to access the one-foot contour maps and sonarchart live on the Navionics app on my phone. $150 for the chip plus annual renewal fees? Uff-duh.
