I bought a new johnboat and I’m building and putting it together the way I want it for my needs. I’m done with the wiring and am now looking at seat choices. I know the catfish guys are a good source of information for catfishing so the question is what kind of seats do you guys use and why. I’m looking at the simple fold down nylon seats that can be hosed off when they need to be cleaned. Their simple, no cushions just the molded nylon seat and are low maintenance. Comfort is one of the main things that are important so cushioned seats aren’t out of the question but they have to be durable and not prone to rips or the stitching coming apart. Id also like to have a seat that can be removed for trapping season. I know I could probably buy a seat I want for $100 bucks but that’s why I’m here asking the catfish guys, efficiency verses price. What do you guys think and why.

I use the camping style chairs. Some with arm rests and cup holders. I loke them because they store very compact and hold up for years if you get good ones. They take up about as much room as 2 coke 12 packs end to end. And there only about $30

I have a smaller boat (14’/55″ beam) I like the folding seats because you don’t have to stow them when you’re not sitting in them. I’ve used camp chairs at times, they are a bit more comfortable.

In my old boat I had some nice padded stadium seats, the boat I just picked up had some nice folding seats that came with. I attached a pic of what my present setup looks like (just need to add a bunch of PVC rod holders for the back and sides).
