Great first ice show! Any freshwater shrimp in that slough? I love the fact that you keep some, and wish I could’ve helped out eating them up!

We had some up in the holes but it definitely wasn’t overrun with them like you see on some sloughs.
The perch…they were delicious. We went back to Konner’s place and had ribeye + fish fry to celebrate the start of another ice season.

Looks like TUCR Bullwhips
Luke SchlitzerPosts: 3December 7, 2020 at 2:09 pm #1994938There was a few different times in the video I had to pause and take a closer look at James. Further evaluation confirmed there was no mustache. Either way, I think James could add to the ice arsenal a wicked looking ‘stache that freezes up the nostril drippings when it gets brutely cold out. Better the ‘stache, the better the bite!
December 8, 2020 at 10:02 am #1995251For James or anyone with experience on the sloughs, is there anything particular you are looking for when picking a slough, or are you picking ones you can access until you find perch? Also I’m assuming if there is a road that the slough backs up to it is legal access similar to MN?

Perch in small bodies of water are very cyclical – boom and bust. One year a slough will be the hottest thing going. The next it will seem like the lake is devoid of big perch. I recommend checking out the link above and digging through the survey reports. Keep on eye out for reports that show good numbers of larger perch. The reports will give you an idea if the particular body of water is overrun with 4″ – 6″ perch or if the population has a strong percentage of larger perch (10″+). If you do enough digging you’ll have the info you need to narrow your search down to a small number that are on their way to becoming the next “boom.”
I hope this helps.

Correct. We both used 34″ Bullwhips.
December 9, 2020 at 1:36 pm #1995706James, is the reason you didn’t show the 360 images is because you had a prototype Mega Live setup?

No. We recorded our footage internally and ran into a playback issue that we couldn’t solve. Simple as that.

Thanks James. It gives me a good start. I should be able to handle the rest.

How do you record the 360 internally? Is that a standard feature?

Yes, all humminbird units have the ability to record 2D, DI, and SI sonar data and replay it. Recording the 360 sonar data and replaying it is a work in progress.
December 10, 2020 at 9:22 am #1995955I look forward to seeing what you guys figure out and are able to show us. I bought a 360 last spring. I will have to try to figure out how to record on my locator. There were a few times over the summer of fishing what you could see with it lead to some awesome fishing.
