Need a bigger bucket now for my list. Gotta get out there. Great looking fish James.
Wow. Those were some incredible fish!
James, what type of line and what pound test were you using?
It appeared to be some type of Suffix/mono? If it was mono, do you find it’s helpful to use mono in that application vs. braid? I noticed you appeared to be relatively shallow.

Hey Shockers,
Both Scott and I were using suffix 832 braid. It was the high-vis 4/10 variety. Scott was tying direct and I was adding in a 3 to 4 ft leader of 12 lb fluorocarbon just to help with pike bite offs.
To my memory every good fish was caught in 12 to 15 ft of water. Out there on Peck the shorelines drop off very abruptly so while we were close to shore we were still in fairly deep water.
My favorite part of that whole trip, in addition to the great walleye bite, was watching 16 elk come down to the edge of the river for a late afternoon drink of water!
Thanks James. Very cool.
Reminds me somewhat of fishing Sakakawea in ND. But I’ve never caught eyes like that there. At least not that many.
We have a trip planned to Peck in mid June. We have a full day guide trip booked with Scott. I’m looking forward to both the lake trout and Walleye fishing. I’m told the SM bass fishing there is also good. Scott says good #’s of fish on his end of the lake and bigger fish on the other end. I can live with good #’s of 2-3lb. SM.

fishthumper, would you mind telling me some of the details of the trip (cost, Scott contact, etc) – DM if you would like. I just moved to Bismarck so I am now only 5hrs from Ft Peck and would love to check it out. Thanks!
Finally able to watch this episode tonight… Holy smokes!! James, Have you ever been a run like the one you seem be on lately. IIRC, you have you PB ice walleye, plus several other large fish this season, and then to cap off the TV season with this…unreal! Congrats! All I can do is hope I can find the 15 inch plus fish this weekend, my sons are starting to loose respect for me!
James – What was the date this show was filmed?
First week of week. May 4th and 5th if my memory is correct.

I feel very fortunate over how season 15 turned out and conditions lined up perfectly more than a couple times this past season so we were able to hit a few big fish bites “just right!”
