Paul mentions the white fish do not have a swim bladder. So I assume that’s why you can release them after pulling them in from 40-60 FOW. Learn something new every day!

It definitely was brutal out there! Gobies don’t have swim bladders. Whitefish are able to release their gases allowing them to swim into all depths of the water column. Just like a lake trout.
The average size is continually getting bigger. Friends have taken a few of the largest whites I’ve ever seen personally, and they had schools coming through of monster whites. Doesn’t seem like long ago we were using little rockers and waxworms. Now its goby sized baits – wow
