    More episodes in a boat.

For me ice fishing is bad television. It’s pretty much a guaranteed delete off of my dvr when I see it.

I’d like to see a pool 4 or 5 fall/winter show. They have done a few episodes on p4 in early spring but id like to see a shoe filmed in November down there.

Preferably without consulting a few guides in town before the episode

    No thanks.

How many times have we heard on any show from the guys “we’ve fished the last couple days without nada”, quite a bit. I’m not gonna learn all that much from watching tough conditons and hosts trying to figure it out. Give me hotbites, even mediocre where I can maximize the most of what they are saying. Tough days equal a few fish if you can figure it out, good days when you figure it out is 10x that, that’s what I want.

Hosts are just people, great sticks for sure but even great sticks cant figure out every body of water we as viewers want them to hit and be successful in the small window they have to film.

I expect the same awesomeness they’ve put out for some time now, nothing more nothing less. toast

Guess I’m just the opposite. I want to know what goes through a professional anglers mind when they are struggling to find fish. What do they look for? Where do they look for it? What are the first tactics they try when the previous one doesnt work?

I prefer to watch shows like uncut angling and meat eater because they do a GREAT job of explaining everything theyre doing to find what theyre fishing/hunting for. Seems like most fishing shows video tape guides reel up big fish after big fish but dont get very far into how theyre doing it or how it could be replicated if they were put in my shoes. I watch fishing shows to learn how I can catch more fish in my own situations based off of what they do. Feel like I’d learn more if I got to pick their brains a bit. Just my opinion.

Oh I see, I thought we were discussing IDO and what to expect, which imo they do exactly what you just stated, didn’t know the sausage guys were in the mix too.

Maybe send an email to Johnsonville, they might be able to help ya out

for me…………you bad mouthing ice fishing is bad etiquette. I would love to see if the IDO crew could spend a day or 2 or even 3 on pepin for some or any walleye action. That is one tough body of water to make it happen on ice. James any chance you are up to the task? I realize it is big and unpredictable with the current, but it would be a fun exploring mission.

I’d watch that show for the curiosity of it.

It is not just catch a fish and throw it back, or calling it a “Slobosaurus” and eat a brat!

I haven’t laughed that hard in a while. I don’t know how anyone can fish with him…… rotflol

I’d love to see a St Croix hardwater show personally. I know it’s not like it used to be but I’d love to see some techniques for that area.

Lol don’t get yourself so worked up chief bawling All I’m saying is that I feel other fishing shows do a better job of actually teaching what they’re doing and why. I would like to see IDO improve. Sorry if this offends you

And your first clue is the show opening with a bunch of white men dancing that “can’t dance”… roll
It’s like the shows target audience is 10-12 year old’s. tongue

More Muskie shows would be nice, especially fall sucker fishing and if possible an Ice fishing Muskie show (Keyes did one a few years ago, it was awesome)

Something I’d like to see on all fishing shows. A clock on the bottom. I’d like to see how much time has passed between fish etc.

I second that! I mentioned that last year in the long thread about the show. And maybe not even just to see time passed between fish, because I’m sure there is a number of fish caught that don’t make the show, but just the time of the day in general so you can get a feel for how they are relating to the morning, mid morning, afternoon, evening bite, etc.

With the days getting a bit shorter and the nights cooler I will soon start my daily Ice Dance hoping the ice Gods will bring early ice.
What will James and the IDO staff have in store for us this season?

We will definitely be starting our season on the ice! Right now it looks like somewhere out in the Dakotas or the UP of Michigan based on current weather patterns. As for shows in the boat I don’t see that happening until spring given the early arrival of winter temps.

I know both Pat and I were more than a little bummed about having to scratch our plans to start the season with an open water Musky show or two but the window of opportunity to get that done has already slammed shut on us.

I think James should invite Dutchboy out for a show. )

Good idea an ido celebrity show. We could listen to dutchy gripe about Lindsay Lohan and paying taxes. Then maybe a Florida show withe pug where pug is outfished 50-0.

    Please don’t.
He’ll still find something to bitch about and expect the rest of us to follow suit… whistling

Yes, that did get slammed down. As in falling trees! Quite an epic trip for Pat. That would have been a compelling episode though, half of it just trying to get past the fallen timber. shock
Was the reward worth the troubles? Depends on who you ask. wink

I guess that’s what I should have said. I’d like to see a clock on the screen with the time of day.
