I made it out for a few hours today in SE SD. My first stop was on the west side of Sioux Falls, Family Park. I found 2 1/2 inches of good ice. The blanket of snow definitely doesn’t help. I made a couple holes with the spud bar but with water coming up through the hole, I decided to move on. The next stop brought me a little farther west. North East of Hartford, SD is a little body of water called Scott’s Slough. It’s known for small perch and an occasional walleye but I didn’t care! I found there to be around 4″-5″ of good strong ice. I spent a couple hours here popping holes with the 6″ Lazer Auger and watching my Marcum. With one or two lone marks, I couldn’t get anything to commit. Overall it was successful in that I didn’t didn’t get wet but without a fish, I didn’t fully scratch the itch. If anything it’s only itchier sad
