There’s some terrific smallmouth fishing in NE South Dakota. I’ve had a terrific time up there.

19″? Dang, that thing must look like a beach ball, not a football.

    Update: Found pictures I think

LOL… I don’t know about that, but if the fish are all shaped like that, it must be a great fishery. That thing is ready to explode.

What a cool story, and good on them for going through the effort to get it certified yet still release-able.

Freshwater shrimp and pre-spawn will bloat – but that is truly remarkable!!

Wow, amazing fish. I am happy there still are people out there to go far out of their way to ensure the fish was released. Now it’s time to find it next spring when shes 19.25″!

Just to clear up the 19″ length it was 19.5″ long. I was the lucky guy to net it and measure it! Have it all on three video cameras and working on the footage.

How many cameras were you running? Two? Very nice video.

I sure hope she makes it. She’s got some good genes.

Rear deck camera, one port side, one starboard side, one on net but didn’t have it on, one on boom stick for underwater shots, handheld hd camera for footage like you see when we weighed the fish and had it outside by tub, one for the side of hat and a misc one that can be put other spots. If you want to see the videos we’ve done go to youtube and look up bass brawl outdoor videos or mopjig and you’ll find them. This is a sickness, not a hobby!!!!

Great job, good release. My only hesitation are the jaw grip scales. Have heard they can do permanent damage to the fish especially when they are just a tad overweight ;)

    Congrats on the record!!
