My brother and I tagged out on opening morning in SD. I was able to kill my bird at a whopping 5 yards! I had to let several toms walk through in order to get a shot at this one. We knew which birds had the biggest spurs based off of sightings and trail cam pictures. My bird was almost immediately attacked by 2 other toms after he hit the ground. These 2 birds stayed around and brought in the bird that my brother killed. All 3 of the toms that stuck around picked at my bird.
I was able to film my brother kill his bird, and we also got video from our trail cameras of both kills! I’m hoping to upload the videos from my phone, but if I can’t, maybe someone can.
We didn’t weigh them, but we guess they’re between 23-24#. Both beards are over 10″
