I will be mounting a scope on my T/C Pro Hunter FX muzzleloader with Leupold quick release rings and base. Anyone one know what the torque specs are for the base to the gun and for the rings? Not having much luck online. Also, what color locktite gets used, blue?
    Thanks, DT

green or blue, red takes heat to come loose. blue should come loose with hand tools but on small fasteners can be difficult so maybe go green. as for the torque just look it up be the bolt size and thread, machinery handbook is great for that.

What kind of base? Many of them have different torque specs and there is pretty wide variation. Leopold, for example, has relatively high torque compared to many others. ‘

Leopold and Weaver both publish torque specs in their instructions. I’ve had to dig for specs on others and for generic and Picatinny there are generic specs online.

I’ve only used Loctite blue on scope rings and bases for years. If it holds up on handgun scopes I see very little chance that there would be any advantage in going to red considering the issues of removal if it becomes necessary.

I have a scoped rifle with a similar quick-detach system and have removed the scope, put it back in place and not lost much of any zero. Very sweet system.

I used the blue locktite on the base screws.
