Scope mount to TC Omega question

I finally caved in and am mounting a scope on my muzzy since it’s now legal in MN. I got the scope, rings, and ring rail, but no screws to mount the rail to the muzzy barrel. I contacted TC about the size and thread of the pre-drilled holes, but haven’t heard back. Is this a standard size for all guns or is each manufacturer different? How do I find out the size so I can get the proper screws?

I put a scope on my TC impact this year, and the rail I purchased came with the screws.

Sticker, most bases come with screws. Because most bases are milled for the screw heads – flat, tapered, ….and so on. I forgot what mm the threads are, but length and head style varies. I would check back with who ever you bought the bases from

The rail was taken off a different gun a while back and I have no idea where the screws went. Maybe I’ll just go buy a new rail with screws, but I can’t find one for the Omega since it’s and older model. Most of them are for the encore.

The screws are likely either 6-48 or 8-40 threads. They might be 3/16″ long or 1/4″ long….just went thru all of this on a CVA. I had weaver bases for the gun, no screws. Mine took 8-40 screws but the only ones I could round up were a little too long so I ran the Dremel across the face of the screws using a re-enforced cut off disc and holding the screws by their heads in a vise-grip. Just kept the disc running flat.

I got the 4 screws from a gun shop for $2.00, used. They’re both a common size. http://www.brownells.com will stock the screws too but they’re like $9.00 for a dozen and then there is shipping….and you only need 4. Check a couple gun shops or gunsmiths out locally. You’ll find some.

I think all TC scope mounts are the same. The Omega mount I purchased worked perfect on my Impact.

CVA changed screw patterns in 2010. Anyone wondering what year their older CVA gun is should look at the serial number….if a gun has a number ending in 10 or higher its the newer screw pattern. T/C guns I think have standard screw patterns for scope bases. I think the 6-48 fits the T/C guns. My Impact uses that screw size.

It would be nice, but probably too much to ask of the manufacturers, to standardize such things as screw size used for sights and bases along with standardized screw patterns.

I use the Leopold quick detach mount on my Omega. You can take scope off/on and it’s always dead on. This is handy for cleaning and when you can’t use it(rules).
