I have both a .22mag and a .17HMR that I’m in need of a scope for. I’d like to put a decent scope on both of them, but don’t want to break the bank doing so. What scope is a good choice say in the $75.00 range plus or minus a few $. Are the Simmions .22mag scopes still a good choice? Is something with a BDC worth the extra cost? Both would mostly be used just for target plinking and possibly a little varmint control.

Simmons pro hunter scopes are nice. Clear optics for the money. Personally I’d pass on the bdc stuff as both of these cartridges are 100 to 150 yards cartridges and I can’t see a bit of advantage of having all the dots in there. Besides, once you’re zeroed at 100 you can always move a target to 200 and check to see where the next couple of dots place, then hold over or whatever for longer ranges

I have a 4 by 12 Bushnell Sport view on a Marlin SS bolt, 22mag she’s a tack driver. It wasn’t expensive, but it shoots!

I have Nikon predator scopes on all my rimfires. Nice scope, reasonable cost.

No, all the BDC and target turrets are not worth it. On a 17, wind is the mortal enemy, not drop.

Scratch the Sport view, they quit making it. Time fly’s.
