I went up there on Father’s Day weekend to help my family pick me out some stuff. When we looked online it said it was open but when we got there it was only a small store section in the mall with clothes in it. The new main one was not open at that time. I am thinking about going to check it out this weekend.

Scheels Eden Prairie?

I am thinking that I will wait until a day early next week to go when there are less people in the store. I’m just a little worried that all the items I am looking for will already be gone…

Curious to see how well they’ll be stocked after their grand opening, but I’ll be there next week. I worked a year at the Rochester Scheels while in school and gained a ton of respect for that place, top to bottom.

My office is about 2 miles from there, and to quote Joe Exotic, “I’m never going to financially recover from this.”

I’m going to assume they have been diverting inventory from other stores to get EP fully stocked and loaded. It’d be pretty embarrassing to have a grand opening with empty shelves.

That is what I assume too. A grand opening with low inventory? Doubt it.
tbro16InactiveSt PaulPosts: 1170July 10, 2020 at 7:34 pm #1956409Yeah, I believe it. Just a bummer to see the Rochester location wiped clean. Just what we should expect nowadays, I suppose.
July 10, 2020 at 11:29 pm #1956430Hope they sell more then Rapala. It would be nice to see jackal and many other brands.
DeucesPosts: 5272July 11, 2020 at 6:53 pm #1956531Huge! Like a Dick’s in there as well. Didn’t browse thru most the store, shot right to fishing. Good place for the wife to go to,plenty of browsing space. Had some nice looking shoes I might have to stop back for.
Fishing didn’t dissappoint. Jig section was great and the bfnt plastics section massive. Lots of rod selections. Had to get out before I spent more money.
Not much for musky rods, but had the okuma I was looking for so a win in my book.

July 11, 2020 at 8:12 pm #1956542Anybody check out the golf or tennis sections?
Asking for a friend…..
July 11, 2020 at 8:39 pm #1956549No, just fishing stuff. It is IDO…was pretty organized as far as fishing tackle goes

No, but I heard women’s clothing was well stocked.
July 12, 2020 at 1:35 pm #1956634Took the fam out there this morning. Holy cow… Literally the best sporting goods store I’ve ever been in aside from Owatonna Cabelas. Walk in to a massive salt water fish tank with people diving in there, absolutely everything you could ever need. The fishing area was extremely well stocked. As some one else posted, an entire aisle of authentix plastics. 1/2 hour drive for me but way more with it than going to fleet farm or cabelas of i can actually get what i want!
July 12, 2020 at 5:31 pm #1956666I’ve seen pics. It looks awesome. Good for them. Scheels has always been a stand-up company.
July 13, 2020 at 8:05 am #1956743I stopped in yesterday afternoon about 2 PM expecting the fishing dept to be wiped out and stock picked over but I was wrong. Still well stocked with fishing line, jigs, plastics…everything!
The variety rivals Cabela’s in Owatonna (PRE-BASS PRO)
This is a welcome addition to the south and west metro area fishing/hunting community.July 13, 2020 at 1:23 pm #1956832I made a quick trip there today after an appt nearby. Kind of reminds me of a Cabela’s with all the mounts and multiple levels.
Super nice to actually see items in stock too. That is a rare sight the last few months.
July 13, 2020 at 5:30 pm #1956925I was over there yesterday. It is a massive store and was impressed with the fishing department. I wish they had more boating stuff, but few besides Fleet Farm do. What impressed me the most is the marked difference between empty shelves at Fleet Farm this summer compared to this. Fleet Farm in Brooklyn Park is just wiped out of fishing and basically all sporting goods. I know much of this is is likely because of the increased demand for this stuff this summer, but FF’s usual supply issues probably do not help either.
It is nice to have another option for fishing and other stuff. Tubes, waterskis, etc all plentiful.
I did, however, kind of feel like it’s a store of a different era. Where retail was king. Remember Oshman’s in the Mall of America with all the sports you could play inside of it? With all of the gimmicks, it reminded me of that. In 2020, I don’t know how many of the big Cabela’s/BPS they would be building anymore. For as much square footage as the Scheels has, they have to sell a ton of stuff. We’ll see if they can make it last long-term.
July 16, 2020 at 6:40 pm #1957783They had a whole clearance bin of storm smash shads today for 1.99 each….
Don’t worryaboutitPosts: 250July 22, 2020 at 3:54 pm #1959280Finally checked it out today, pretty awesome. Unfortunately some of the shelves in the fishing area are starting to look like every other store’s shelves. Lots of empty pegs, could be just a busy day.

Dang I was going to go there after work today
Don’t worryaboutitPosts: 250July 22, 2020 at 4:11 pm #1959283Definitely still go! I forgot I took a couple pictures. Most of the displays looked like this

July 22, 2020 at 4:36 pm #1959296If it’s mostly the Googan Baits that are gone I certainly will still be going…..
Don’t worryaboutitPosts: 250July 22, 2020 at 5:25 pm #1959315Ha, that was as empty as a display was but there were several that looked like that. Haven’t tried their baits but you have to give those kids some credit
Cody MeyersPosts: 438July 23, 2020 at 9:13 am #1959504They have some really nice high end fishing apparel and hunting equipment in there. I went and picked up several things for my back country hunt this fall.
Guess what has two thumbs and approves of the Scheels in Eden Prairie?
July 23, 2020 at 9:32 am #1959516When I was in there 2 days after their grand opening, I asked a couple employees in the fishing dept if they expected to keep items in stock given the circumstances and the fact that other retail stores are unable to. Their response was “that’s the plan.”
I was skeptical that they could. Sounds like I was right.
