I am used to seeing deer turds in the the lawn, but this one seemed different and there were 2. I am assuming it is just a different type of deer turd, perhaps because they are eating my cracked corn, instead of the whole corn I used to have out there. In any event I thought I would post to see if anyone had an idea.

No, it isn’t dog poop and no it isn’t human poop from the neighbor who is tired of deer poop in her lawn.

for sure deer. some people say bucks drop logs and does/fawns drop the little pellets. I have no idea if that is fact or wivestale.

Right now we have what I believe to be a yearling doe and a yearling buck with half a fuzzy rack starting visiting.

The doe appears to be clinging to the last thicket of oaks and brush on the upside of a gully, because I see her on the back of the lot on the edge of the tree line a lot. I assume once the developer puts the final few homes in they will all be gone or at least move and not visit as often.

I would guess big deer too. Set up a trail camera and maybe you’ll get a picture of the culprit. It is my experience that the only way to tell buck poop from Doe poop is to actually see them while making a deposit. One thing is for sure, big size poop big deer, little size poop little deer. Clumping poop can be due to diet. I have jumped big bucks off their bed while still hunting here in Vermont and found pellet shape poop. I also (during hunting season) have spent time in a bucks bedroom area and found lots of clumping poop. OK, I have typed the word poop enough for today. If you get a picture of the critter responsible, post it.
    Good luck this season!
