Saylorvile 7-2-04

Well it has been a while sence anyone has posted on this lake. I was out the other day and getting a few whites and some cats. It has been hard because the water has been high. Been trolling Cherry Glen parking lot and over the hump at sandpipper . Whites have been small but the cats are OK. Water is falling about 1 foot a day and it is my guess it will be at normal pool some time around the middle to late part of the month. Fishing should pick up some then.The other day there was only 8 feet of water over Cherry Glen . Water has a real lot of alge in it now just like all the rest. Water was almost green last time out. Hope to get out there more next week . Seems like I have the lake all to myself most of the time in the early am. Did manage some smallies the other day . Most have been whites . see you out there someday . Jim

Well I was out today water is still going down but not as fast. Talked to the corp. and they said they slowed the flow rate so the lake is going to be like this for awhile. They said Red Rock needs to catch up a little. Looks like prediction on the normal pool will be posponed for awhile. Lake level was 852 1/2 on the 5th acording to the tower at the dam. There is only about 4 to 5 ft over Cherry Glen parking lot now so be careful when out. Humps will start to show before long. As far as the fish today I found some but could not get them to bite . Was not out long only 2 1/2 hours so not a good time frame to go by I guess. Jim

Well was out again today for a few hours in the AM. Seems like I have the lake all to myself anymore . There were a few came out later before I left. Water is clearing up quite a bit. Started out looking for whites with no luck so turned to trolling and did manage to get three nice cats and got a nice 22 inch walleye. This was the first out of Saylorvile in quite sometime. Will try again towmorrow . One never knows where they will turn up out there but it does give me more hope now. Just can’t give up I guess. See you out there someday maybe.
