Saving Waypoints

IDO,

I need some advise on how to save waypoints off my unit to have a backup. My Lowrance HDS5 Gen1 unit died and I called Lowrance and sent it in to see if they could fix it. Unfortunately it could not be repaired and I lost all my paypoints. I am upgrading to the HDS5 Gen2, but want to figure out how to have a backup for the future.

I don’t mean to be a wise guy, but the manual describes it clearly so that’s the place to start.

Hit Menu, Go over to Utilities then Files…
1. Highlight Files from the Utilities menu and press enter.
2. Select the desired File category and press the keypad to the right. A list of subcategories will appear.
3. Select a subcategory and press the keypad to the right. Highlight
the desired data file(WAYPOINTS)/sonar log.
4. Press Menu. Highlight Copy and press enter. The Copy File
screen will appear.
5. Select a place to copy the file, like an MMC(SD) card. Press enter
