If any of you guys toss a bunch of deer tails out please keep the boys in mind.

If it’s a random one or two it’s probably not worth your time, but if you have a big deer camp and whack a bunch we’d pick them up or I’d pay for you to ship them toast

They want to get a bunch of jigs tied this winter and get Twin Tied Jigs fired back up for spring!

They don’t have to be “buck” tails. Just like at bar close, any tail will do mrgreen

I’ll be cutting up alot of deer again this season I’m sure just like every season, with my portable processing I do on the side. How many are you looking for ?

    All of them mrgreen

I’d seriously like to get 50-100+ tails and get into dyeing them too. Once they’re done they last ‘forever’

For anyone keeping them, just toss them in the freezer. If you’re ambitious split them through the middle of the white, pull the bone and salt them (takes about a minute per tail)

Sounds like Hank and Ben collect and chase to much tail. God I hope they are not members yet. shock
Sorry can’t help with the tails but will have another order to place come spring. I can say however, their jigs catch fish.

Funny you bring this up. Just saw an episode about Mepps and the amount of tails that get donated to them. 1 lady actually sorts dear tails and helps tie them for over 25 years.

I’ll be interested in hearing how the dyeing works. I do a lot of tying but haven’t tried that yet.

If there is a small town meat locker near you that processes deer, stop by and see if they will save you some too. As far as dyeing does, good luck. When I was tying jigs I tried all sorts of dyes, but none of them were very vivid. So, I stopped trying and ordered all the tails of bright colors and just did the whites I collected. But, that was 30 years ago so maybe things have improved.

Hey B-Man you should stop by The Carlton Meat and Grocery right in Carlton. The process a lot of deer and might have a few tails for you. Never hurts to ask.

Can they use cat fur? If my worthless cat owning neighbor dont start taking care of his I can probably ship you a few pelts of various colors.
