    Haven’t been back in years but does it still get to be bumper boats on Sauk for opening weekend? Particularly in town there by the park? We had some decent openers fishing out from there a bit but I remember boat after boat crowding in there and was just curious how its doing now

    Sauk doesn’t get fished like it used too, especially for panfish. The Walleye population has taken off like gang busters if you like to fish Walleyes. I don’t see many people fishing by the park unless they are on the pier.

    Thanks for the reply! Easier to meet the old man in that area so interesting. Would be fun to get back to an old haunt! How is the clarity on the lake? Still having issues with carp and things churning it up?

    The clarity is not bad since there are hardly no weeds left in the lake. What was it a winter or two ago they took thousands of pounds of carp out of the lake so that is better too. I am actually really looking forward to fishing Sauk this summer should be really good.

    They took about 40,000lbs out of the lake this winter as well.

    Awesome to hear that’s a lot of fish coming out! Gotta help in more ways then just clarity!

    It was also quietly listed on infested list with Zebra Mussels last year (2018). I do not recall seeing a press release about it.

    Yep it’s just downriver from Osakis which got zebra a couple years ago.

    I was out on Sauk last week. Only got a couple of small walleyes and about a 100 perch. Perch burned up my minnows in a few hours and the walleyes didn’t want night crawlers. Should turn on here with the cooler weather. Water temp was 66-68

    Anyone head out to Sauk last weekend? I’m heading up on Friday and hoping this cool air will turn on the walleyes.

    i havent been on either lake in years…..but when i did fish them we always went when everyone had there docks pulled…seemed that was the key to decent fishing…..for panfish anyway!!!!
