Out last weekend in the cold on Saturday and freezing rain on Sunday with only a handful of shorts to show. Strange bite, Saturday (3/28) they would only touch a jig/minnow combo. Sunday (3/29) in the freezing rain they would only hit on plastics (Moxi) and were more aggressive. Total of both days was 12 saugers with only 2 legal. Water temp was 38.
Today – started early, fished in the wind until the battery on the trolling motor cried uncle (12:30PM). Ended with 3 legals and a bonus crappie. I dropped off 1 nice 17″ sauger at the boat and missed a good 8 to 10 hits. Water temp at 42. Nothing on plastics, all on jig/minnow
Feels nice to be back in the boat chasing the saugers and walleyes
