I won a browning noodlin’ rod in a auction. brand new. 11-6 ul. could somebody explain what this is used for. I’m trying to find a purpose for it. seems it would make a nice Slip bobber rod. possibly lightweight trolling rod. I just don’t know this noodlin’ deal…

Is it supposed to be used as a walking stick for walking in the river while you’re looking to hand wrestle a big catfish?

Great shore fishing rod if you are casting a slip bobber. When I lived in Duluth we used them for shore fishing Loopers at the river mouths with slip bobbers. You can cast a weighted slip bobber a country mile with them.

I have a 12’6″ Model that I bought in the early 80’s for shore fishing the power plant discharges on Lake Michigan…
Used a med spinning reel with 4lb test casting spoons (mostly Little Cleo’s)…I swear you could cast them 100+yds (WHEN you did a perfect cast )
When you did hook a fish the technique was to hold the rod back as far as you could – making the rod look like a big “C” and let the rod take the stress instead of the light line….
Worked pretty good until you got the fish ready for the net…Then you had to be on your toes!
Now I use it mostly for dipping small baits when the sunnys are in shallow at spawning time..
    They are fun though
