Port Washington, weekend report…

Overall, our weekend saw moderate action. Between our two boats, we fished Saturday through Monday mornings, from about 3 am until about 10 am. Saturday we were about 15 for 40 (ouch!), Sunday was slower seeing maybe 10 for 18 and Monday 11 for 14.

Dodger/flys caught a few, but the first two days saw a big glow spoon bite (mostly moonshine mags – shelly snack, happy meal, bloody nose, carbon 14) around 70-80 fow. The last day was a big j-plug day for us out in 120+ fow. Leadcore and dipsys took the most fish, but riggers did produce a few. West winds really kicked in those last couple of days, I would assume there is some good cold water out there right about now?? Sorry for the late report, but I didn’t really get back to a computer until now…

Awesome weekend, though, we all had a great time. A few monster battles with 4 yo’s that took a 6 color and fouled it into a 10 color. (can’t believe we got those fish to the boat….;) )

    Well done guys.
    Good looking fish too!

What size J-plugs worked best for you guys?

Not the monster ones, but the bigger-than-average size.. (number 4 I think?) Monday they were really firing.

We’ve had faster action in years past, but we certainly all had a good time and caught plenty of fish again this year.

The locals at Port Washington are always very helpful (channel 7). If you haven’t fished out of that port, I’d recommend it.
