With work being slow I managed to make it out trout fishing Wednesday with a couple good friends. Our plan was to float a bigger river and hit the holes for trout. Although numbers of fish were low size was high! all fish were caught on spinners.

Those are great fish for the SE MN area. Congrats on putting a plan together.

Muliple trophy browns and a bonus trophy brook. How can you get any better than this? Time to start a guiding service ;-).

I assume Root River. Don’t know any other water that big. We have a world class fishery in the Driftless that rivals big water out west. Dump the Montana road trip idea. Plenty of great opportunities right here!

Job well done. Measure any of thr fish?

    Those are beauties!
    I’m guessing 18.5″ 21″ 19.5″ and 11″ in order L to R.

Word is spreading like wildfire about how good the Driftless area is for trout. Good and bad I suppose… more fishing pressure = bad.
More attention means more tourism, tourism = money, money = motivation to protect the resource… better water quality, habitat etc! keep up the good work boys!

Well if the word is getting out then I am glad. MN trout stamp sales (like WI) have been flat for quite some time despite a significant population increase.

Excellent fish I assume the Root being the size it is takes a lot of hit and miss. Maybe similar to the V. I’ve fished a couple times with minimal success but, I may need to give it a second thought. Very nice fish sir

Looks to me like all the Browns are in the 20-23 range and the Brookie is about 12. All very nice fish.
