After having moved out to CO almost a year ago, I have been trying my luck at fly fishing this summer….it turns out I have no luck at all! Until this weekend. My future wife and I went on a 3 day backpacking trip into the mountains just west of Rocky Mountain National Park, and camped by two different mountain lakes, completely packed w/ trout. Although the lakes are small, being ten miles into the mountains and only accesible by foot, they dont get much pressure.
I have to say catching fish on a fly rod is a great experience, but I think my loyalty will stay w/ the St.Croix ice rods….
Hopefully now that the rivers and creeks are slowing down a bit the fishing will pick up closer to home, where I can reach by truck!
