    Yes I said 135 days!!!!!

Wisconsin has the longest closed season of any of the Driftless Area states.

Iowa stays open year round and Minnesota opens on January 01.

These last 2 weeks of excellent weather could have been spent trout fishing here in Wisconsin. The dog days of winter in February when I need a trout fix I should be able to fish Wisconsin.

Nope …..I have to wait until the first Saturday of March each year to go chase trout.

The snow is coming down hard in this photo and the trout are eager! I love fishing in the snow. I am the angler in the photo.

A geographic area that was not covered by the last three advances of glaciers that burried valleyes in glacial till resulting in visible hills and bluffs being preserved for our enjoyment.

Len, there is an alternate, Trapping! That will keep you busy in the water all winter long. Plus, keeping a few beaver from damming up your favorite runs never hurts!

I lived in NJ a few years, home of the anti-hunter/fisher/outdoorsman. Their stream trout season is effectively open all year round. Though they do have a C&R only period on non-stocked waters in early spring. Fall colors blazing under under clear blue temperate skies fishing the remote freestoners in NW NJ for wild trout. It really recharges your batteries. MN really misses the boat without a fall trout season and one of the reasons I haven’t bought a trout stamp in several years. Best time of the year to fish IMO.

If you’re willing to travel the Great Lakes tributaries have extended fall seasons and definitely have something to offer.
