I have had friendly dogs follow me while fishing and ruin my day by going ahead and messing things up.

This little dog in this photo was a trooper. Her name is “Lexus.”

She followed Jeff through deep water and thick brush and weeds and always healed directly behind him when he fished.

She loved my lap in the truck and made we wants a dog for a split second.

That one doesnt look to happy to be out there. Its drives me absolutely nuts to fish with my dog. Tried a quick trip with hi again over the weekend and he just about didnt come home. Its not his fault. He is just a dog. When I fish I just want to concentrate on fishing not everything he is into. Makes my blood boil having to tend to him constantly. Not a good situation.

My dog was my best fishing partner for a bit over 16 years. She was with me four to five days a week in a boat or occasionally on shore. We fished 23 different states and two Canadian provinces together. Her last day was Good Friday and every lake I fished reminds me of her, since she had her own special walk for each lake before we jumped into the boat.

It’s been a strange year not having her with me. I still find myself holding up a fish to show her and realize she’s not there staring at me. If they are up for it, dogs and fishing can be a great mix.

I love to take my dogs ice fishing…sometimes they increase my total catch by fetching fish left on the ice by other fishing buddies!

Tried taking my dog Zeus out on the water for the first time since I’ve had him, and it’s a good thing I left the harness and leash on

Let’s just say that I didn’t get much fishing done, cause he decided to jump off the boat out in the middle of the lake

Not so sure I’ll do it again unless he’s got a doggy life vest, cause his breed doesn’t do so well in the water
