Saturday I got a bug planted in my ear while sitting on the St croix about heading north to Lake Superior to try for some loopers. I passed on the offer tell 1230am still awake thinking I needed to give it a try. After 1.5 hrs of sleep I jumped in my buddies car and head north. We spent the morning trying one harbor and one river. Around 1130 we decided to see if we could find any brookies north of Finland. Which ended up being a 2.5 hr scenic drive with all of the streams and rivers we planned on fishing locked up still. We tried the few spots of open water we found but didn’t connect with any so back to the south we headed to spend the rest of the day fishing near one of the looper rivers. We hit 3 spots today without a fish or seeing anyone land one. There were plenty around but didn’t seem to like anything we offered. Ended up with one looper to bring home from Sunday.

Just curious, were all the rivers open up the shore?? I sure miss “looper fishing” in front of the Sucker and French Rivers…I used to do it alot when I went to school in Duluth.

The rivers are open up to about Silver bay. Many of the tribs are still locked up though.
