Thinking of putting a Lake trout trip together this winter yet. So the question is. Where is the best Lake trout action between Wisconsin and Minnesota? Definitely talking ice fishing.

    Thanks for any input!

There’s plenty of good lakes for Lake Trout up in the BWCA, if you’re willing to travel that far, my favorite being Snowbank Lake.

My thought is that there would be some decent ice fishing out on Lake Superior but I have no knowlege of that. (maybe Grant could elaborate more on this)

If you’re looking for something a little closer to home, try Grindstone .

    Justin,

Do you have any experience ice fishing the BWCA? Do they allow motorized travel?

    Thanks,

It really depends on what lake you choose to fish. Lakes that are completely inside the BWCA are restricted to Non-Motorized vehicles only. Lakes that are not completely inside the BWCA are open to motorized vehicles, as long as they are operated on the non-BWCA portions only.

The lake I referenced above has about 40% of its fishable water located outside the BWCA.
