I have these rod holders on my 620, are they sturdy enough to use for running dipsy divers on long fiberglass rods?

The times I have fished with people using dipsy divers they have the metal rod holders that grab the rod handle and lock down once loaded up so you need to twist and pull up to release the rod.

Just wondering if the Attwoods are durable enough for that kind of fishing.
    Thanks

I can’t speak for the big Dipsy’s that the Musky guys use, but I have used the “mid size” for eyes with the rod holders that you have mentioned.

I just realized that this was in the Trout/Salmon forum. Not sure if I was any help. If it were me, I would look into a metal tree for the rod holders.

I use them, but make sure the drag is set correctly. I have only snapped one and that was my 350# buddy slipped and fell on the rod and holder and snapped it at the insertion to the base. I have done the same thing in rough water and it held. I am 180#.

Buckshot, the Folbe Advantage rod holders were designed for white sturgeon and salmon out west.

    Check them out sometime.
