Canada + Big, cold, and clean river water = Huge Brook Trout

Some pics from our recent Canadian Brook trout trip…Had a blast and caught some real trophy Brook Trout. Most were in the 18″ to 20″ and our biggest fish was 23″ with a 16″ girth but tipped our digital scale at over 6 lbs. All trout were released to be caught again.

The higher water with the recent rains/floods made landing bigger fish challenging. We found 10 lb test was the right line strength for holding these fish in strong currents.

I can’t wait until next year for another trip…

I would never consider using 10# test for brookies.

Unless of coarse I was catching brookies like that!

I’m still trying to get my mind around “10# test” and “Brook Trout” in the same paragraph. Simply awesome!

How’s the fishing in the fall for those beasts? They sure must be pretty in the fall.
