RWS Air Rifle question

    I bought a Model 34 P Pro.
Does anyone know what the screw like thing on the very end of the muzzle is for?
I don’t see anything in the manual about it.

It actually can be unscrewed all the way out and removed.

Anybody know what it is and what it’s for?

Is it a set screw? If so, it could just be a plug that you could remove and use those threads to add a front sight.

On a similar note to your question, most of these air rifles should get a going over with screw drivers when the come out of the box and packing. The screws can be very loose in these things right from the store.

If that loose screw is running into the baffle or “silencer” apparatus at the muzzle, just tightening up…it’s a set screw.

No, it’s not a set screw.
It covers the whole end of the barrel and has a hole in it for the pellet to fly out.
If you think of a coke tube…that’s close.
    Muzzle break…dunno.

It’s literally like a cap at the end of the barrel that gets screwed into the muzzle, with a hole in it for the pellet to go thru.

    Does that help?

And yes, I tightened all the screws and they were kinda losse,

Is it a thread protector for the threads for a suppressor?

In Europe where suppressor use (and air rifle use) is much more common, a lot of the rifles there have the barrels bored and tapped for a suppressor to be threaded on. If the suppressor is not used, they generally supply a threaded insert that protect the threads from erosion and damage.

This sounds like what you might be referring to.

It is a muzzle brake. It protects the rifling at the tip and is a handle for cocking. It is weight for stability and probably actually extends the barrel a bit just for ease of cocking the thing. The barrel doesn’t need to be that long to max out fps. A 12″ barrel might shoot great but you couldn’t cock it easily.

Bingo! We have a winner! That is exactly why the barrel is threaded.
