Does anyone have a Ruger Precision rimfire in .22lr? If so what do you seem to find it really likes for ammo? I was able to get about 1 inch groups at 100 yards with bulk federal but really havnt had a chance to test anything else. Was wondering what is worth picking up to run some test groups with.

I have had mine for about 3 weeks. Purchased so I could shoot sub sonic ammo through it with my thunder beast can attached. Absolutely love it. Shot two different sub ammo through it. Both sounded about the same. The low noise 700 FPS zeroed at 25 yards shot 3” low at 50
Yards. The 1050 FPS zeroed at 25 yards was almost dead on at 50. We have taken down quite a few tree rats on the edge of town

You can always try the usual high accuracy suspects to kind of get things narrowed down.

    Eley Match
    Eley Tenex Biathalon
    Fiocchi Super Match
    Federal Gold Match

It is usually difficult to improve much on these benchmark loads, which is why so many shoot them for competition. With .22s anything can happen and it’s possible that a rifle can shoot the cheapest bucket ammo better than match-grade but it doesn’t happen very often.

Will try those for sure, have been reading that wolf match is sometimes good as well. It would be way too easy if it would shoot the cheap stuff… Either way still a super fun rifle to shoot at some distance .

Those match rounds do shoot well out of my 10,22 but they dont have near the knockdown power of standard 22 ammo. Ive had some squirrel headshots that were not very effective at killing with Ely match.

I’m suggesting match grade rounds because they are usually a way to establish a realistic idea of the rifle’s ultimate accuracy potential. A 1 moa rimfire with its preferred match ammo is unlikely to be improved upon much with any other ammo.

Once you know what is possible you can see how much you can get away with as far as downgraded ammo

The op didn’t mention hunting and hopefully most understand that match ammo is generally not intended for hunting.

Yeah i was looking more for getting the best groups out of the barrel that i could. I know for hunting to stick to other ammo. But thank you though! lots of people don’t know that.
